Pete's Original Art Online Gallery!

Hi this is Peter Dranitsin, I am a self representing abstract artist from Cleveland, Ohio. I have created this website to be able to be able to share and sell my original acrylic abstract paintings. Throughout the website you will find a big variety of original contemporary abstract art. All paintings are one hundred percent original, hand painted with high quality acrylic paint on professionally stretched canvas.

This website is designed in such a way that you can make an offer on any of my original acrylic abstract paintings. That's right, here you can name your price and get approved immediately to get the original modern art you can hang on your wall to add vibrance and color to your home.

Abstract Painting Discussion

Q: Hi Pete no questions this time. Just want to tell you how grateful I am and I believe I am not alone for taking time to answer all questions and sharing your ideas and experience. It is so rare that artist is willing to establish a real contact with his fans and followers. Thank you very much. I am visiting your site almost every day and I learn so much just from reading this forum and looking at your educational videos. Best wishes Julia

Q: Hi Pete. Just love all the help you are willing to share. Your paintings are out of this world I have been painting most of my life using oils acrylics and watercolours painting landscapes which I find hom hum but would very much like to branch out and try abstract art but cannot get out of my little square box no matter how hard I try Where can I start looking for ideas. I have tried many times in the past to turn to abstract but find I cannot picture ideas in my head which is so frustrating. Is an abstract painting supposed to have a title or represent something or are they in the main a combination of shapes and block colour. I desperately want to change my painting style. Please please help me. Kind regards Annette

A: Hi Annette, thank you for your question and your comments. To get ideas for abstract painting simply start with real objects such as landscape, trees, and other objects and try to paint them in the way that would look interesting and eye catching. Try to use different colors, unproportional shapes, and be creative. Check out my videos where I share my ideas at http://petesoriginalart.com/videos.php and my blog that I constantly keep up to date: http://abstractartoriginal.blogspot.com If you will have any questions you can always contact me and I will be more than happy to answer any questions you have. Best of luck to you!

A: Hi Barbara, thank you so much for your questions and your comments! I have been painting professionally since 2006 and I work only with acrylic paint. For the most part I am self taught but I was raised by an artist.

Q: Hello Pete, first off I am a huge fan of your artwork and the way you approach business. I am also very thankful for your services in the U.S. Military. I am 19 years old and a photography student in Boston who also paints. I have been fortunate enough to sell a few of my paintings, but I am struggling to find the right crowd who are seeking unique original art. My question to you is, do you have any advice for someone like me to help get my artwork noticed in the art scene? How did you start and end up where you are now? I have contacted a couple galleries here in Boston about displaying my artwork, but nothing is definite yet. Are there any online galleries where you started selling your paintings that you would recommend? I have attached a couple images of some of my paintings along with a link to my Facebook page where I have more photos as well as videos. I really look forward to hearing back from you and am open to any advice that you might have for me. Thank you and once again, your artwork is an inspiration.

A: Thank you very much for you comments and your questions. The first thing that I would suggest to you is to register at https://www.zapplication.org and find the local shows near your area in Boston and display your artwork on few of those local shows. Second, I highly reccomend to create your own website. Try the elance.com or odesk.com to find a good provider for building your website. Third, you will need to promote your website with Search Engine Optimization, social media, your blog and so forth to get maximum Global exposure. Finally try selling on eBay, Craigslist, Etsy, and other internet based live auction websites. This should be a good start for you. If you should have any other questions please do not hesitate to contact me at any time I would be glad to help.

Q: I know this will sound a stupid question, but how do you wet the canvas? Also, what is this you use on 1.11 in your art video http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kkMyBNhLfo4 , is it a sth like a sponge? :)

A: First there are no stupid questions, in order to wet the canvas you would simply need to wet a sponge or a brush and spread the water on the canvas that is laid in horizontal or vertical position. For the most part I use sponge to blend the colors. Thank you for asking and good luck!

Q: The stuff u keep layering on over and over again and then blending in, is that just white acrylic paint? also, over the jugs, you sponged in the original color again? -Newbie, I just started painting this week and wanted to know if you could lead me in the right direction. do you have a recommendation in mind for me to start with?

A: Thank you for your questions, the white stuff is white acrylic paint, and yes you need to continually add more color to get the right brightness. Try to keep it simple by painting simple elements using only few colors. Don't try to add too much details at first :) good luck!
