Pete's Original Art Online Gallery!

Hi this is Peter Dranitsin, I am a self representing abstract artist from Cleveland, Ohio. I have created this website to be able to be able to share and sell my original acrylic abstract paintings. Throughout the website you will find a big variety of original contemporary abstract art. All paintings are one hundred percent original, hand painted with high quality acrylic paint on professionally stretched canvas.

This website is designed in such a way that you can make an offer on any of my original acrylic abstract paintings. That's right, here you can name your price and get approved immediately to get the original modern art you can hang on your wall to add vibrance and color to your home.

Abstract Painting Discussion

Q: Thanks for the quick answer! So you you just add the water directly to the jar of paint? And then mix the paint and water while still in the jar? I also had a question about your sponge technique. When doing a lot of blending with the sponge, it can obviously get covered in paint. So when the sponge gets too paint filled do you rinse the sponge off before moving onto a new area of the paining? Do you grab an entirely new sponge when this happens? Or do you simply keep using the same sponge no matter how covered in paint it gets? Thanks!

A: Great questions! I simply just take the paint without mixing it and place it on canvas to work with. For the second question, many times I rinse the sponge, but there are times when I use the sponge with previous paint to reuse it in other parts of the painting.

Q: Hello Pete Will you by any chance be posting a free video of how you made your painting Travel With The Seas If you do not have a video for this painting can you share how you got that almost honeycomb like texture with the paint Did you lay the paint on very thick and then drop some water on it I LOVE this piece

A: I do not have the video made for that particular painting. As far as the technique goes you are absolutely correct. Thank you for asking!

Q: Hi....I am not an artist but I would like to know what is this artist using to paint the abstract art is it a brush knife that looks like a brush or a spatula just wondering

A: I use multiple tools to achieve my abstract paintings effects. To list a few: spatula, sponge, wired brush, bubble wrap, feather, pallet knife, woodgraining tool and others.

Q: Hi Pete I love your work. I am a beginner artist and currently am doing a lot of spray paint art but really want to try some acrylic painting. In the little experience that I have with acrylics I find that the paint dries WAY too fast in order to do what I want with it. I remember reading you say that you add water to your paints. Exactly what is your waterpaint ratio Do you use this same ratio for the paint in the small squirt bottles Do you add a medium to the paint as well as the water And also what do you mix your paints in We never really get to see your paints in your videos. Do you take them right from the jars do you use a palette Thanks and once again I truly love your work.

A: Thank you for your interest and all of your great questions! I try to mix 20-30% water and the rest with paint for the squeezer bottles. I do not use mediums (usually) with my acrylics and I take the paint straight out of the jars and place it right on the canvas. I use canvas area as my pallet. Thanks again!

Q: Thanks for making all of the wonderful instructional videos How do you determine a price for a painting Appreciate all that you do to help others with their art Thanks Peter

A: In order to determine the price I first take into consideration the expenses for materials used. Than I consider the time and the difficulty of the composition.

Q: Hi Peter Love the new paintings Great Job as always. Did you paint the background on Travel with the Seas or just left the canvas white Thanks for sharing your talent and techniques with everyone.

A: Great question Liz! I painted the middle of the painting and then I painted white on the outside and softly blended with the sponge to the middle.

Q: what is the difference between liquitex basix matte acrylic, and liquitex heavy body acrylic?
Click here to add your feedback
A: Great question! The difference between liquitex basic matte acrylic is simply the density of color pigments. When the paint is dry heavy body acrylic color will keep the color intensity much better than the basic acrylics. I personally like to use the basic liquitex simply because they are more fluid and the intensity of color is good enough.
